Penne & Italian Sausage

1 lb Italian sausage - hot
or mild 500 g
1 onion, chopped 1
1 clove garlic, minced 1
1 tsp Italian seasoning 5 mL
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper,
or to taste 1 mL
1 tbsp cornstarch 15 mL
2 cups BeatricePurFilter 2% or 1%
Milk 500 mL
1 can (19 oz) tomatoes chopped (540 mL)
1/2 lb penne pasta 250 g
1 cup grated Canadian
Mozzarella cheese 250 mL
Preparation time: 10 to 15
min
Cooking time: 15 min
Yield: 4 to 6 servings


1. Cut sausage into 1"
(2.5 cm) pieces. 2. In a large fry pan, cook sausages over medium-high
heat until browned on all sides. Add onion, garlic, Italian
seasoning and crushed red pepper; cook until onion is
tender. 3. Stir in cornstarch. Add Beatrice Omega-3 2% or 1%Milk, stir until mixture comes
to a boil and thickens. 4. Add tomatoes and penne. Return to a boil, cover and
simmer for 15 min or until pasta is tender.5. Stir in Mozzarella cheese and serve. For the adventurous:Try seasoned canned tomatoes. Add 1/2 to 1 tsp (2 to 5
mL)
chili powder in Step 2.
